Has payment security been breached?!?!?!

Hi,
This morning I logged into HELM to make my regular monthly payment on an account. I've been doing this for a year, using either credit card or PayPal.
Suddenly I find a warning message popping up in my browser about the payment route NOT being secure. Never seen this before!
THEN I discover that all reference to my credit card has been wiped out, and I have only PayPal as an option.
PLEASE ..... I need to check this out before I proceed!!
1) Why has my existing credit card information been suddenly removed?
2) Why am I getting a warning message about payment messages?
WHAT HAS SUDDENLY CHANGED?
I have had no notification of a change in HELM, and the need to re-enter information.
My bill is due - but I need some re-assurance before I commit my secure details to the system once more!!

Hoping for a quick reply!!

Elisabeth Liddell

The message I get which I assume is the same as yours does not say it is not secure but says that:

The security certificate is valid

The security certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page you are trying to view

BUT

The security certificatewas issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority.

You probably do, it http://www.freessl.com/

Hope that helps,

Jacob

There has been some recent changes to helm with the integration of recuring billing, but to my knowledge this would effect any security issues.

Card details were never stored by us before, so i dont understand why you think it used to be?

And to be fair until i understand what your problem is i would appriciate if you dont post topics with titles like that, which only decrease the confidence in our system when there are no security issues.

STILL PUZZLED!

Hi,

Oddly, I have received no email notification of the replies posted here .... which I usually get. So I have just checked them.
Paul - I do not appreciate being addressed in that manner! If I have a problem which I consider to be important I first try to use the ticket system. BUT long usage has taught me that the ticket system is VERY VERY slow .. and if I need a quick response then these forums are the best place to go.
And my concerns ARE legitimate - it is MY credit card security at issue - so a lecture is not what I want!!!!!!!
In my HELM control panel I have had the option of paying by credit card (which was verified over a year ago when I opened my first account with Catalyst). Nothing has changed on my part - but suddenly this option is no longer available and I am offered only PayPal.
Further, I get a NEW warning message about a possible security issue. I pay through Helm twice a month (for two of my website accounts) so I am familiar with the system, and use it regularly.

I still don't know why information is missing from the Billing section of my Control Panel - and telling me off like a two-year-old doesn't inspire confidence .... my question remains unanswered - but my goodwill is waning!

I want to pay my bills in the usual way .....

It may well be for you, but from my personal experience - I have posted 2 tickets in the last two days and have them both responded to within hours.

If you were that concerned then I would not pay now. Send an email to Paul and let him know why you have not paid and I sure it would have been fine.

I am sure most of the queries you have raised here could have been dealt with by opening a ticket. If you found that it was not replied to in 24 hours then I would have posted something. Nothing can be that urgent.

Kind Regards,

Jacob

I think there are some crossed wires here. Before we didnt store credit card details, this only started around 1 month ago.

So you card details have not dissappeared, we never stored them. All payments went through worldpay.

So i dont really understand where your details are at risk, please feel free to correct me if im overlooking something.

It wasnt my intention to degrade your problem in any way, i just feel that when people come into the forums and see the topic title it doesnt inspire confidence, when we havent even identified your issue. If you were offended i apologise, but the ticket system may have been a better avenue of enquiry.

yes - it does seem to be confusing!

My intent was never to create unease among other clients - but to express my own unease.
I had gone through the process of validating a credit card for use over a year ago - and used it to make payments ever since.
Now suddenly I have NO card option available and the message in my HELM Billing section reads "No Credit Card have yet been added to your account".
THIS is the thing that has so troubled me!
WHY has my credit card validation been removed? This is the question I have been trying to get answered. And I still have no answer.
I used PayPal to settle this month's account, as I am still as puzzled as when I first asked the question!
I have had a lot of people telling me off (bad girl!) but NO-ONE has addressed the question - which SURELY is a legitimate cause for concern.

As i said, we never stored your card details before. We will store them now when you add them.

Is anyone else getting the ssl error?

Did the old system of 'validating the card' entail storing the details?
It is so long ago that I joined Catalyst, that I have fogotten ;o)
I am assuming that it a fairly long and tedious process - like PayPal was. But it is worth it for ease of use, and for adding an option for payment,
Also - do the recent changes mean that I can opt for automatic monthly billing now, as opposed to having to go through the payment process every month (twice - as I have two accounts currently on monthly billing). That would be neat! ;o)
