[CURRENT ISSUE - *nix Accounts] phpBB

Hi,

Thanks to all of you that have updated phpBB on your sites.

Many of you will be aware that there is currently a worm that exploits phpBB vulnerabilities, and exploits them, causing the server to run a Perl script searching for other machines to exploit. Because some sites on banana have not been updated, banana was found to have a number of copies of this script running on it.. I have therefore been forced to suspend apache on the machine, while I look for some of the sites that are to blame.

To all users that are currently updated, or do not use phpBB, Catalyst2 apologises for the inconvenience. To those users who have not yet updated, please note your account WILL be suspended, pending your contact with support in order to notify us that you will be updating your forum.

Catalyst2 apologises to those users who are not the cause of this problem, and will endeavour to get banana running, in the usual stable way, as soon as we can.

Just to keep the situation updated, I've now finished suspending accounts.

People claiming or having not received the mails about phpBB have a incorrect contact address in their cPanel control panel. Please use the update contact information link to update this to a correct mail address, if your site is one of those that has been suspended, please contact support as soon as possible, and be prepared to update your forum.

Another update, we've obviously got some sites that haven't been picked up by the script. If you have a phpBB forum and haven't updated it, please do so immediately.
