Questions about changing name servers ??

Hi all,

My domain name, mydomain.org.uk (say), is currently registered with 123Reg but I want the website to be hosted at cat2.

The website is all setup and ready to go and has been tested via http://mango.cataylst2.com/~username.

My questions are ... once I change the nameservers to the cat2 ones (and the change has profogated around the intranet);

1) will my website's default page be the default page of http://mango.cataylst2.com/~username ?
2) since 123Reg will still be the registrar do I set up any email forwarding through them or through cPanel ?
3) similarly, if I wanted a subdomain of forums.mydomain.org.uk would I set this up through 123Reg or through the cPanel ? And do subdomains cost extra if I am on the Linux Megadeal ?

TIA for any help.

Regards,

Adam Brunt

Hi Adam,

In answer to your questions, what you see at http://mango.catalyst2.com/~username will be exactly what will be displayed when the nameservers have been updated. All email accounts and subdomains will need to be setup in cPanel once the nameservers have been updated. Subdomains cost £5 for 2 of them.

Regards,

Jacob

Hi Jacob,

Thanks for the speedy reply.

So basically all I need to do when I am ready is change the nameservers at 123Reg and then do everything else through the cPanel ?

Regards,

Adam

Thanks.

One other thing you might be able to help with.

The domain name was originally registered with my ISP - Plus.net (and the "live" website is currently on one of their servers).

I asked Plus to change the TAG of the domain to 123Reg's 'tag' which they have done and I am now able to modify the domain settings @ 123Reg (the nameservers according to whois still point to Plus's servers).

However, when I try to go to the website now I get a 404 Error page when I haven't changed anything.

Any ideas ?

Regards,

Adam

It appears it is still pointing at plusnet, I would contact them.
