Domain Setup - Refresh my memory

All,
I've been asked to set up a website for a friend as he's not happy with the service he's getting elsewhere.

His Domain Name is Registered with Nominet (as far as I'm aware) and the site is hosted by a company I shall not name.

He's purchased a hosting service from Catalyst and now we want to switch his address to point to the new site.

It's been a LONG time since I last did this so I popped into HELM and followed the instructions below

"No registration or transfer required:
Select this option if you have registered a domain with another domain
hosting company. Enter the domain name and click the Save button."


I'm a bit unsure who to contact next to progress this.
One thing that has happened is that his Email Account provided by his old hosting company has stopped working! I got delivery problem messages.
Is this anything I've done ?

This morning I set up the 'non-working' email address name in Helm and messages appear to be delivered (although I've not been able to log on at work to check because of web restrictions)

Does this mean that his Domain Name is starting to transfer across and I just have to wait ?

Hi,

If a domain has been registered elsewhere and you want to use our hosting then you have two choices, you can either update the nameservers on the domain or change the IPS tag on the domain to CATALYST2 and transfer it to us.

What is the domain name and I can take a look at the current setup to see what the situation is.

I've set up a temporary URL for his site here

RWC Technology Limited - specialising in small, medium and large volume contract electronic manufacturing, from bare board to full packaging if required.

I'm just surprised it affected his email straight away.

Ok, if you change the nameservers on the domain to:

ns1.catalyst2.net
ns2.catalyst2.net

Then it will start pointing to Helm.

OK, will do, I'll get him to dig out his Nominet Details and set that up ASAP.
Would the preliminary process have affected his Email account on the old domain though ?

Hi,

Unless the account was closed with the original host then there would be no reason why the email account have stopped working - unless the current host is having mail issues.

You may need to contact the current host in order to update the name severs.
