The wonderful world of AOL

Afternoon,

I seem to have an increasing number of these returned mails;

----- Transcript of session follows -----
... while talking to mailin-04.mx.aol.com
>>> DATA
<<< 554 TRANSACTION FAILED

now surfing ye olde web, it seems that all the errors they have have a 'reason' as well. These emails don't. just a Transaction failed.

Any ideas anyone?

Thanks

Is there a pattern to the errors?

First one was last night at 21:25

Since then it looks as if a lot of AOL mails have been returned.
Some sort of Spam thing?

If they are just saying:

<<< 554 TRANSACTION FAILED

then it is not a spam thing. I have restarted the mail server, please try that now and let us know how you get on.

Regards,

Jacob

Just tried to send another mail to an AOL user but got the same message back straight away.
