Email Spam Filtering (ServerSide)
Hi Folks,
We have used cpanel to configure spam assasin to rewrite the subject for emails which it identifies as SPAM. Currently we just filter out these emails when downloading them client side. We are using the a score of 9 at the moment, which seems to be catching a high % of the spam and not falsely identifying real emails. There is a Spambox option which would move these emails to a folder, so there is next to no spam in the inbox. This is an okay solution, but not quiet there yet, also as stated on the configuration screen, this can cause undesirable side-effects. 1) Does the aging option work on the inbox only, or all IMAP folders & contents ? There is also the CronJob option, hmm, think running cronjobs in the background every hour/day is a major no-no. What we would actually like to do is to create some procmail filters which if identify that the email header starts with SPAM, then redirects this email to a seperate inbox, say, called SPAM. This inbox can then be cleared down by aging on a daily basis, or remotely (automatically) downloaded to a local host for some poor sole to look over. 2) Am I just being blind and you already have the procmail filter features, or something similar which does the same job, or is this something you can do through a ticket request as cpanel options for this are unavailable. Eagerly await your thoughts on this. |
