Email Forwarders: Copy vs Move
Prior to the update of the CPanel software, we were able to add forwarders to email accounts which would either copy or move the original email.
Definitions: Copy: Send a copy of the received email, but also keeping the email in the inbox of the original recipient. Configured through the user webmail. Move: Send a copy of the received email, but do not store the email in the original inbox. Configured through the CPanel admin panel. Noticing the inboxes for the email accounts which I had previous set up as Move forward increasing in size, I ran a couple of tests and found that the Move feature is no longer available, it sends a copy instead. Unfortunately, we manage email accounts requiring both cases. Yeah, okay, the Move functionality may have been a bug in the last CPanel build. But my next thought was to go to aging for the inbox, nope, looks like this has gone also. I am not miffed in the slightest about loosing the Move forwarder feature, it is great that it is consistent now. This still leaves me with an issue of email inboxes forever increasing in size which are never checked. Do you have any thoughts in how this can be achieved without outside software polling these accounts ? Kind regards |

Hi Paul,
Through the CPanel webmail interface, there is an icon available labeled "Forwarding Options". I used this to set up email forwarding for the email account. It would be great if there was an option to do both, tick box or something under advanced, guess we need to suggest this to CPanel themselves, i'll keep my mouth shut at the moment. Cheers, Justin Evans |

![]() Lets back track a little. To set the Move Forwarder option, before the CPanel update; Log into CPanel account administration http://<host>.catalyst2.com:2082, then select Mail / Forwarders. To set the Copy Forwarder option; log into webmail for the individual user http://<host>.catalyst2.com:2095, then select the "Forwarding Options" icon, in the main page, before you go into any email client. Now after the CPanel update, both of the above routes now only set up Copy Forwarders. Hopefully this puts us both on the same page. Thank you. |

Hi Paul,
Nope. Unfortunately further testing shows that the Copy forwarder option is still working in both cases. It is good to know that it is a bug, so I will keep an eye out for the fix and try to watch our account disk space usage does not get too bloated. Thanks again. |
