spam filter

Hi

I'm wanting to read up on the capabilities of the spam filter you introduced a while ago. I have a client who likes to know all the ins and outs before doing *anything* so it would be good if you have a link or pdf doc I can have a good read through???

Thanks

Kate

Kat,

This is something we are working on at the moment, unfortunately we don't have anything available yet. If you have any specific questions let me know.

Hi Paul

Just an overview of how it works would be a good help for the time being. I have read your post 'advanced spam filtering now available!' but I think he'll want a little more info eg how it works, what the user needs to do, do you need to be IT literate etc...

Any more info would be a great help before I get back to him.

Thanks

Kate

Once it's all set up, all your mail will be routed through the spam filter. The filter will give each piece of mail a rating based on how likely it thinks the piece of mail is likely to be spam. Any items with a high enough rating will be retained by the spam filter.

Each mailbox will receive spam report each workday around 1700 (this can be changed) showing all the suspected spam quarantined since the last report was sent. From the email you can allow the email through, or even white list the sender.

Each user will also gain access to 'control panel' style site using their existing mail login details. From here they can manage their quarantine, white list, black list and a few other settings.

Hope that helps a little

Sounds excellent - just one (probably silly) question.

I know catch-all email boxes are not allowed when adding anti-spam to a domain. What happens to all the emails that are currently caught by the catch-all? Do they get returned to sender or just lost?

Cheers
Alan

The sender will get an email telling them that the recipient does not exist
