Upgrade Downtime

I have been asked by my marketing department to confirm what users will see when they attempt to access the website during the upgrades this evening and tomorrow evening? Will it be a 'site not found' error or some sort of boilerplate 'this site is currently down for maintenance' page?

It will be a site not found error.

Is there any way of changing that? (I suspect, even if there is, it won't be worth the effort - but I have to ask)
