Angry Not impressed with the Mango server

I have to say that I'm decidely unimpressed by the ongoing issue(s) with the Mango server.

I've been complaining about the flakiness of this particular server for months and it still has issues.

I've had my sites going up and down like a yo-yo, databases disappearing, sites so slow loading that they end up timing out and not being able to update my sites as ftp is inaccessible.

I really do wonder what I'm getting for my money. I pay the same for hosting a site on the Mango server as I do the Banana server yet, whereas the Banana server appears rock-solid (I can't recall ever having had an issue with it), the Mango server simply cannot be relied on.

There have been some recent issues, and we do have another server ready to go for new sites.

The issues we have had with mango have in my opinion been quickly resolved, and while any degredation in service is regrettable we are doing everything we can to ensure the continued stability of our shared hosting platform.

With all due respect, I have been complaining since February regarding Mango and have lost count of the number of tickets I've had to raise. I hardly call that "recent issues".

Also, having a server ready to go for new sites hardly helps those of us lumbered with the unreliable Mango server does it? Unless you plan on migrating those of us on Mango to the new server?

Shaun,

The new server will allow us to move some busier sites off mango in order to increase service levels for everyone, so it will improve the situation. We also found a memory leak in the version of apache mango was running, that was re-compiled yesturday and things have been much more stable today.

Could you please pm me some of your ticket ID's so I can check which issues affected you?

Shaun,

I've been doing some tuning on mango - how has the service been over the last couple of days?

Regards,
Rob

Well I do have to say that I've had no problems since my last post in this thread.

Long may it continue.

OK,

I've been very critical about the performance of the Mango server. Not just on here but, as Paul and Jacob would no doubt testify , in e-mails to support as well.

It was slow, databases kept disappearing and my forums kept having access problems. This went on for a while but I was promised that the matter was being dealt with.

I'm happy to say that it appears it has been dealt with. I have had absolutely no problem with my sites on Mango for weeks now whereas I barely went a week previously without a problem.

So a big thumbs up from me and credit where it's due............
