The situation ....
I wanted to run a forum, run via YABB and CGI or Perl, I needed some basic hosting space without the need for a domain name just an IP. I signed up a year ago after asking can i do this .... YES was the answer. After I signed and couldnt set it up without a domain name, i emailed, and after a brief descussion managed to extract a IP i could do it all with. I was told this would never change blah blah blah ... things were ok for a while.. The problem ... IP's changed .... i got an emial with the new IP's ..... but nothing worked, i emailed paul " get back to you in the next reincarnation" redpath and waited. After a few emials and a few newbie fob offs of being emialed the updated IP lists i allready had that didnt work and newbie comon problem help pages I got my IP. I then tried to upload to my IP, but i can only access the Root dir, it refuses to let me any further due to some error about the infomation not in the cashe, and to try later ? I emailed Paul "Ill get back to you in another reincarnation" redpath, and was pointed to a newbie help page regarding FTP access... most helpfull im sure. Conclusion .... My forum has not worked in ages .... I cant ask a specific, down to the point, question without being driven mad with seaming automated responces that have been given knowing the problem i have is not generic. Im not getting no help, no value for money, or no Backup for the changes YOU HAVE MADE !!!!! my login is CAT609. My email is darrentams@hotmail.com If anyone is remotly interested in helping me then please do so. NONE of my emails are currenly being answered. MSM catalyst help has mysteriously gone. hmmm ![]() Regards Darren |

Darren,
From looking at your account i see that your dedicated IP is 213.230.202.27 , this points me to a holding page you have made. So already im failing to see what the issue is. We also have no tickets open for you (http://support.catalyst2.com) and we were on msn helping people last night. Where were you sending your emails as i cant find any in my inbox? If you open a ticket with the precise problem instead of unhelpful and vague errors like 'due to some error about the infomation not in the cashe' then im sure we can get any problems you are having resolved. |

just to point out the blindingly obvious, this email is an accumulation of a few emails with the first email at the end, it is from my hotmail account where previous emails are logged and added to all replys.
Sorry to bring this to the forum, but im really pissed off with the lack of service and my emails not being answered in full. |

ass you can see ... my first question asked what my IP was.
The answer given was incorrect and and I had to make another email to re-ask my first question. This is all following the previous emails regarding Ip changes that also told me incorrect information regarding my account ![]() hope to hear a reply soon. T |

The first answer was a simple mistake on our part, i fail to see where you still have an issue as we told you your IP
'Fixed http://213.230.202.27/cgi-bin/yabb2/yabb.pl' Ive also checked the ticket system and cant see any tickets from you, if you have an issue please raise it through the correct channels. You can raise a ticket at http://support.catalyst2.com |

Sorry to butt in here, It was me that suggest darren use catalyst2 a year ago when I set mine up. As you can see there are problems here too.
The basic of it is this. Darren also runs a YABB board. Instead of opting, as I did, for a sub-domain, darren got a fixed IP instead. He put this IP into the path system that yabb uses to control itself. With me so far ? - COOL !! When the IP's changed, Darren had problems (as you can see above)... even with the resolved IP for the new server location, he cant login because the old IP is hard-coded into yabb's pathing information. When he tries to login to HELM to access the files, he gets errors. THUS dear friends, without being able to access his files, he cannot change the yabb paths to make the forum work again. I hope this clears up a few things. Another satisfied customer. Sorry Darren, in case youre wondering, I've moved my data to http://www.***********.com/ - Ill setup a temporary forum for NK Members to post in until you can get another host sorted out.

As i said i see no tickets from darren. Hard for us to fix an issue without a ticket. The last email i can see regarding this matter is from the 5th september, i have heard nothing since. I would also like to add that his problem is nothing like yours, if darren opens a ticket we will deal with his issue no problem.
Also, if you wish to suggest other hosts, feel free to do this elsewhere but not on our forums. |

In your welcome email we clearly state where to get support and how to send support requests to get a guaranteed reply.
If you wish to cancel your account please email billing@catalyst2.com with your account number and address (this will ensure your account is cancelled and we do not send you billing emails) |

Im not going to enter into a slagging match, im sorry we couldnt resolve the issues and wish you every success with your new host.
( just as a side note, in your email to me after we gave you a refund you thanked us for our efforts and said there were no hard feeling, am i missing something here? )

I did thank you for your efforts, such is only polite, and i know you tried your hardest. But ultimately there was no solution you could reach. A new host has proved it's not the data that was at fault, nor any of the suggested causes.
After seeing my data shift at a much faster rate - I had a change of heart. I still do thank you for your efforts, but I am no longer sorry to have left. I hope that fills in what you may have missed from my previous post - as I said, no hard feelings, but responses I cant say I didnt expect. Thank you for the wish of goodwill with our new host. As i said b4 - take what I said as constructive, that there are issues that need resolving and that you need to recognise that; finding them - thats the hard part. Best of luck. Andrew.

No problem andrew, but please understand that if clients send us emails we cannot keep track of them like we can with the ticket system, which in turn prevents situations like this.
Anyway good luck
