using ip adress to view sites

is it possible to use the server ip address to view a site?

I've set up a site on my reseller package but don't yet have control of the domain. Can i view the set to test the db driven stuff or do i have to wait until its over completely?

You'll have to wait unfortunately until your domain name that you've setup has its DNS entries pointing to CAT2.

Hi Kat,

We've just been discussing this very issue, and you could help us in an experiment if you like!

Try changing the IP address of your Preferred DNS Server (on your pc's internet connection tcp/ip properties) to point at Catalyst2's DNS, which is 213.230.202.20 (ns1.catalyst2.com). We think this should allow you to browse your domain (via the normal domain name) before DNS fully propagates over the internet.

Don't forget to change it back after!

Cheers
David

PS Forgot to mention this might cause a problem if you are using Internet Connection Sharing (several PCs sharing one modem).
