Accessing Stats?
Hello. Ive started a new topic as I now have uploaded my files to the server pending DNS changes at my domain name provider.
I have 2 questions if anyone could help please? 1. Having uploaded my files, can I go somewhere online to test that they all work (all the links etc.?) 2. How do I access the stats etc. that I have paid for? p.s. I did check knowledgebase but nothing found. Hope to hear from someone. Al |

I'm affrid theres no way of testing your site with out a domain, so you'll have to wait for the DNS's to update! Sorry! It is on my todo list to work summet out to fix this problem (my todo list is very long!).
When you add the stats to your account you need to instal them using the button in the stats section of your domain. This should then provide you with a link to the stats page on cat2. If it is all setup then the link is http://stats.active-ns.com/awstats.pl?config=<domain.com> The knowledge base could do with a few more articles in it, just gotta keep pushing Paul on it. To be fair he does have bigger fish to fry, and the forum works VERY well here. HTH Jas

Al, there is a way to test your domain before DNS propagation completes - set your PC to use Cat2's DNS server instead of your ISP's:
1) Open TCP/IP properties for your internet connection. 2) Make a note of the DNS settings so you can restore them after testing. 3) Set Preferred DNS server to 213.230.202.20 which is Cat2's primary DNS server (ns1.catalyst2.net). This DNS server will know about your new domain straight away, long before it propagates to your ISP's DNS servers. 4) Surf to your new domain and do your testing :-) 5) After testing your site, change your DNS settings back to their original settings. Note that while the temporary DNS change is in effect, services such as email which depend on your ISP's DNS may not work. Cheers David Last edited by daymark; 30-06-2004 at 09:37 AM. |

Thanks 4 it.
I clicked on the Install button but got an error message - Unable to install statistics. Please try again or contact support. aljames.co.uk Bandwidth Usage: 0.00 MBytes Diskspace Usage: 0.00 MBytes Is this because Ive not yet contacted domainexpress about the DNS changes? p.s. do I assume the DNS changes I tell them are exactly; ns1.catalyst2.net or com? ns2.catalyst2.net or com? |
