Connecting with dial up in Germany?

Sorry guys, a bit off topic but looking for some guidance please.

I go to Germany for a month in Novemebr and I've never used dial up with my laptop abroad. I know how to setup a manual connection and connect in the UK, using my free virgin net account that gives me an 0845 number to dial.

However, is there somewhere on the www that I can get good instructions on how to connect in Germany so that I only pay the same amount from the land line I'll be using? , i.e. 1p per minute?

Any help appreciated.

Dumbo James

You would need to find a German ISP or an use an ISP like AOL that has connections in different countries so you only pay the local rate.

at&t

AT&T offer a reasonable international service which isn't quite as irritating as AOL and is more aimed at the business client. Worth looking into though, nice service, can't remember the costs though.

Thanks for that info, I appreciate it.

I think I have a solution. I have been emailing AOL germany and they're very helpful. I can phone them when in germany and they will set me up a user account and on the AOL Power tarriff and for 39.80 euro I get 90 hours free surfing (that is free from telephone costs) and if I exceed this which is unlikely, its only 1.4 cents per minute to the phone company.

For the benefit of other users, the website is www.aol.de and and English speaking support person who is very helpful can be emailed on AOLTeam2@aol.com.
