Javascript problem
Hi,
I have created a website for my wife and have had it running ok for a short while. I created 2 versions based on the users screen resolution, 1024x768 and 800x600. I created an index page which only contained a short piece of javascript which would detect the screen resolution and send the user to the correct sized site. I have since resized all the pages so that I would only be managing one site. I deleted the index page containing the javascript and uploaded the new index page which did not containg the script. When you go to the home page it is still using the javascript index page but I can't find where it is pulling it from??? I have cleared out my own temp internet, history, cookies, etc, but still it calls in the javascript index page but it isn't on the site. Anybody got any ideas please???? Thanks Daggers62 |

Have you tried it on a different computer? What is the difference between the two pages? Where can the pages be found?
Regards, Jacob

I got hold of a friend who went straight into the home page as it should be. If you wouldn't mind taking a look I would be grateful for a 2nd opinion: www.earlymenopauseuk.co.uk The problem seems to be on my pc and my wifes laptop. Any advice would be grateful Cheers Daggers62 |

It looks fine here. As you say your have cleared your cache then I would suggest that your ISP is caching it, this will eventually sort itself out...it may take a day or so.
To make sure it is not your computers, open the site up in your web browser and press the CTRL and F5 keys at the same time on your keyboard. This should load the page from scratch and may well sort the problem. Hope that helps, Kind Regards, Jacob

Thanks for the help
Hi,
CTRL+F5 didn't work. I have just read that the index.dat which stores the temp internet may be corrupt and to get rid of it you have to delete the users folder from Documents & Settings. Not sure about this one. Thanks for checking the site, as long as users can get access to it then thats the main thing. Many thanks for your help Daggers62 |

Sorted!
Problem solved.
Turned out that it was the index.dat file in the temp internet that was corrupt. To delete it you have to create a new user with admin rites then go into the problem users folder in docs & settings and delete the whole of the temp internet folder. The folder will be recreated when the machine is restarted. It worked on my machine and my wifes laptop. Cheers Daggers62 |
