Search Engine submission...

Now the site is up and running (425 visitors and counting! ) I want my site to be 'visible' from the various search engines.
Currently typing Sebastopol AFC into google DOES return a link to the site, but its one of the sub-pages, not the main page. Searching on Alta-vista finds nothing relating to the site.

Whats the best way to get my site recognised by the major search engines? Do I have to submit the site manually, or will they just pick up the site in due course?

Thanks

I normally submit them to google, yahoo etc and it gives them a helping hand to pick up the sites...

thanks, i've already done that.
what are these tools like that claim to add your site to a million search engines and get you to the top of every one? Are they just hype or do they actually work?

I would hate to make a sweeping statement but I would say to guarantee getting you in the top ten of all search engines is probably rubbish.

Just think: who uses a search engine other than google, yahoo, msn, altavista, or lycos?

If you want to get high listings you need a site thats search engines like (remeber there automated) read around of search engine optomisation articals.

Good valid code, text that is full of keywords (with out over doing it), descriptions of images, this and much more helps.
