Installing Scripts

I'm on megadeal Linux, and currently use my 1 mysql database. I was looking at the scripts and wanted to install invision or phpb, but they both tell me that I need a seperate database, is there a way to use them with my current db?

I know I can upload phpbb and set that up with my current db, and I will probably do that if I can't get Invision to install.

I just wanted to set both up so I could test them both and see which I prefered.

Many Thanks, Minh.

If you use the table prefix feature of either of these forums, then you can have the database tables labelled as phpbb_<tablename> and hence use the same database. Please make sure you backup your database and associated data before attempting this.

This feature is not available through the scripts library, sorry.

would it be possible to do it the other way and install the forum first into the database and then add my tables?

This would theoretically be possible, as long as your tables had unique names.
