Blueberry

Just read the announcement, will this server remain on the VMware or is it just temporary?

Lee,

It will be staying there, over the past month we have moved all our shared Windows hosting boxes over to our new VMware platform, which provides:

- High Availability - if a server node fails it will be brought up on a new node within a few minutes

- Resource Scaling - if any server experiences a spike in demand we can increase its resources, or bring a new server online within a few minutes, helping spread the load and ensuring your site stays snappy

- Green - by utilising a server more fully our setup consumes much less power than before, making everything much more tree friendly.

I am keen to stress the VMware platform is an upgrade, we have invested heavily in best of class hardware (Dell Dual Quad Core Servers, extremely fast Dell Equalogic iSCSI SANs, Cisco switches etc) the disk subsystem is much much faster than before we have already seen this benefit page load and response times.

Many other companies have 'done' virtualisation, and had a few issues along the way, which has left a sour taste in a few mouths. We have tested this solution thoroughly and have been very happy with the results so far.

I would be interested to hear any comments

Sound good.

I've even noticed that cPanel seems to be loading faster while I navigate around it too.

Thanks
