.net 2.0

Following on from a previous thread. Now we are approaching February, is there a release date planned for .NET2.0 on Catalyst2?

Just starting my new site and want to know which technology I should be choosing.

So will it be available on our current domains automatically or do we have to request anything or do anything other than deploy our applications?

SqlExpress

I'm just redesigning the database for my site, and wondered if you'll be making SQL Server Express available with .NET 2.0

well done on making the new framework available so quickly!

Send a message via MSN to DaveLegg
I would guess, from the MSDE EULA, that the SQL Express edition is not to be used on production sites, so it's a case of waiting for the guys to test out and roll out a full edition of it.

Question

Are you sure about the MSDE EULA?

I know of web sites running on it on Microsoft Hosted Application licenses. Microsoft even say in parts that it is good for low usage web sites.

If we get SQL2005 Express, will it be a free, cheap or expensive addon?

Unhappy

In an answer to my question, the answer for MSDE2000 at least appears to be a resounding no. Strange then that Microsoft talk about web site usage. I guess they mean Intranet only.

From the EULA:

"NO RENTAL/COMMERCIAL HOSTING. You may not rent, lease, lend or provide commercial hosting services with the Software."

...now to find out about 2005.
