What happened to performance?

Just been checking the performance results at Webperf.net for catalyst2:
http://www.webperf.net/perfdetail.cg...=1226;month=78

For most of this month the results have been around 2500kb/s but suddenly today it has dropped to just 155kb/s (less than 7% of normal). That is a MASSIVE drop - has there been a major problem? And more importantly has it been resolved?

It wont affect you, trust me

We installed a new core switch last night and havent setup all the vlans to the router again yet. So we are currently running on two of our four connections, however you shouldnt/wont notice any problems with the speed of your sites, ftp etc as this still means we have about 200mbit/sec of connectivity.

Seems fast for me, uploading at 30k/sec which is maxing my adsl.

I've just measured FTP at 59.8KBs downstream and 29.8KBs upstream, so my 512kbs ADSL is maxed out both ways. Pings are about 18ms.

I have a little asp.net gallery on Lime with lots of 60KB images and they're coming down in about a second each (after flushing the cache), again maxing out my adsl.

Response is instant too. Once the images are cached in my browser the aspx page executes and responds like it was on my local server!

Best performance yet - well done guys

David

I dont really understand what you are getting at, but speeds can be influenced by many things

- Your line quality
- Congestion at your ISP or the 'shared' local pipe to your exchange
- Congestion elsewhere on the internet.
