A few questions...

A few questions , any help is much appreciated...

1. In the registration settings section when you have the option of choosing manual or catalyst2 what is the difference?

2.Domain aliases - what are they, how do they work?

3. domain registration - can this only be done through catalyst2?

4. What are Global DNS settings? Do I need to use them?

Many Thanks,

Jacob

Unhappy ditto

I'm confused about this too.....

And if we do what settings should we use ?

From the helm manual this sounds good....
>>>>For instance, you could create a cp.domain.com record that could point to HELM itself, this way your users could use http://
cp.dmain.com to access HELM.

and do we do this?
>>>>Personal DNS: Under the personal DNS page, you can enter a personalized domain name to be used as name servers for all domains that your customers setup.

Ill go through jacobs questions first:

1. You can setup helm to allow your customers to register domain names, if you choose through catalyst2, we will bill you and register the domain name for you.

You can however set it up with your own prices etc (manual) and then you can go and register the domain for your client at say ukreg etc.

2. Domain aliases just copy the settings of one domain to another i.e. people going to domain2.com will see what is on domain1.com if it is set as an alias.

3. No, as explained above.

4. Global dns settings allow you to add certian dns records to every new domain you add, for example if you add an A record cp with IP 193.201.70.81

This will mean that cp.yourcustomersdomain.com will point to a helm login.

Personal dns means you can have ns1.yourcompany.com and ns2.yourcompany.com for us to set these up for you is £50.

masks

So we should leave the
Account Settings | Global Settings | Personal DNS
Name Server Mask: *.
BLANK then unless we have our own name servers (£50) ?
