Big Move (low priority)

During the big move, my clients NameServers seem to have been changed from;
ns1.active-ns.com
ns2.active-ns.com
to;
ns1.catalyst2.net
ns2.catalyst2.net
which is potentially embarassing ....

1) Is this because the active NS aren't ready yet, or won't ever exist on the new system? Are we lumbered back with branding?

2) I seem to have forgotten how to change those nameservers on a domain anyway :-(

3) I've also forgotten what the HELM control panel is for a "resold" domain ? http://control.domain.com doens't work except for catalsyt2.com where access is available but obviously still branded.

Thanks.
Peter

DNS

Hi Paul,
yes this is showing in the reseler helm contorl panel.

I swear When I set up this domain I used ns.active but today when I looked at it, it had changed on its own to catalyst2.net.
This is also showing on whois as catalyst2 !?.

The name of the old ns.active ip can't have changed in the move can it ?

I'll have to read the PDF again about how to change this back.

So on a STANDARD reseller domain do they not get an unbranded Control Panel? Would we have to request one for every domain? Is it not an extension we can copy ourselves ?
Another HELM oversight ?

Thanks
Peter.

Sorted - Thanks

Thanks Paul,
all DNS is normal again and everything seems to be working smoothly.
Well done to you and Chris on a smooth transfer during the big move !

Just back to my other question.....

Im not sure what you mean, every client you add will have their own cp no matter what domain they have.

OK sorry I'm confusing you.

I'm sure it is the same control panel.

But do you have to reach it by typing

control.catalyst2
or
control.yourdomain <<but you initmate this has to be set for EACH domain we sell separately. We ALL want to avoid this ;-)

What I'm asking is can a unique control panel be a STANDARD AUTOMATIC feature for every reseller domain, or could we have a global

control.reseller

instead. The latter would obviously be cooler.

What I'm saying is
1) I don't want o have to request a unique control.mydomain for every domain we sell individually and
2) I don't want my customer to log-in typing catalyst2 anywhere.

I'm asking for an unbranded or reseller branded control panel.

Cheers.

You can set this by adding it to the global dns in helm, how to should be listed in the helm reseller guide, if not let me know and ill sort it.

almost...

For any other HELM resellers who needs this it is;

account settings
global dns
Add A record
name it CP (or control)
use the IP settings of ??????

Strangely Paul a CP record was already there.
But not so strangely it doesn't work ;-)

It comes up saying NO DEFAULT web page found, even though the web site is live and working without the control/cp sub domain.

Am I using the correct IP ??
Either the A record one or 213.230.202.10 which is apparently a generic catalyst2 ip......

Send a message via Yahoo to DigiGuru
You will find it easier to avoid problems like this by doing it the following way:

User Settings -> Global DNS -> Add new record

CNAME

name: cp
data: control.catalyst2.com
