Web designer query: My details or my clients? Plus other enquiries.
Hey,
1. When signing up for a package do I use my own details (name, etc) or the client if they will be paying. 2. Do you accept cheque/postal order? 3. Was I reading correctly that there is two months free if you pay annually? Does this mean i can exclude payment details until then? 4. How much are your domain registration services? I'm interested in .co.uk. So, the ideal situation would be for me to register everything without involving the client (who was hoping for some sort of direct debit setup, which i am unable to provide since I can't find any hosting services that use it), to display the working site and let them take over everything pertaining to it once the free period is up. Is this achieveable? Or will domain registration still require payment up front? Here's wishing there were easier solutions for web designers without their own servers, Lee Harris |

Hi,
It sounds like you need a reseller account. However, my thoughts on your questions. 1. I would use your name - makes it less complicated. 2. Not sure on this one. 3. No, this means then you pay all of it at the beginning and you get 2 months free. 4. a .co.uk is £25 for 2yrs How about your client sets up a standing order to you and then you pay catalyst2 on your credit card on a monthly basis (I think it is automated now). As I said at the beginning it sounds like you should look at a reseller account, if this is a frequent dilemma for you. Regards, Jacob

I appreciate your suggestions, but a reseller package is exactly the kind of commitment I was hoping to avoid. I'd much prefer to design, build, establish and move on. I don't want anything to do with the site or it's billing once it's online.
I imagine that could sound like poor customer service from a certain perspective ![]() I think we can agree that the domain registration is far from competitive (and i've read elsewhere why this is so), so i'd most likely register elsewhere and transfer. That particular query is closed. I guess the most important question left now is that of payment method. |
