Creating .NET applications

Hi all,

this is going to sound naive but web development is not my forte.

What is the most popular software for creating websites using ASP .NET.

I have downloaded Visual Web Developer Express, but picking up from this forum it can't use SQL Server for creating web pages only SQL server express that Catalyst2 is not allowed to use.

So is Visual Studio the way to go?

I'm at the bottom of a big hill so any advice or pointers will be well received.

Thanks

Brendan

My personal opinion is that visual studio is the way to go. Visual web developer does support SQL Server though.

Thanks Jason.

Is VS 2005 Standard much better than Express?

By the looks of it by comparison VS 2005 Pro has all the tools, but for affordability for home use and small development projects is Pro worth it

To be honest it probably depends on what your doing. Your probably better starting with the express suit then if that doesn't meet your needs, upgrade to visual studio. http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/pr...e/default.aspx gives you an overview of the difference between the different versions.
