My site...finished...ish

Like all sites, I guess one never really finishes them. Anyway, any feedback on http://www.mondaytofriday.com is greatly appreciated and I'll try not to get too offended.

Its my first really attempt at anything substantial. And I confess that most of isn't my doing, I just brought it together.

Cheers
Richard

Looks reasonable enough, displays the same in IE6, Mozilla 1.6, Opera 7.23, Netscape 7.1, all in WinXP. There’s just my usual rants about standards. Doesn't pass the W3's HTML standard. http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=ht...aytofriday.com . Tables of tabular data not layout. Use CSS.

Looks grand

I like it, clean design, nice imagery, does what it says on the tin. I've set up quite a few sites over the years so here are a couple of knowledge nuggests I've found useful:

Check the spelling everywhere, preferably more than once (the top animated gif say "Congestion Charing" at one point, it's the only one I spotted but I only spent a minute looking at the site) as this reflects the professionalism of the outfit

Also saying "Welcome to this amazing site" as the first line of any site means that people are reading something they don't really need to know and won't have found out what you want them to within the first few seconds. Try and come up with a blinder of a line to convey a feel for who you are in that first line/title. I think your second sentence ("mondaytofriday brings people together") would be a better title and then lose the welcome line.

Just suggestions. I wish you lots of luck, and if I hear of anyone with a spare room I'll let them know what to do!

Rich

Oh, one other tech thing I just noticed, the book links don't go to a new window like the other side panel links. Just in case...

thanks

Cheers for that. Really helpful. I'm working on the errors now. That ad rotator is a real pain, I've just realised it been referencing an old junk folder for ages. I'm now seeing if I can get it to work properly. Sometimes cache is not helpful at all! I've fixed the links and will do my best to work on the w3 stuff. Its a good discipline for me.
