dlpwd.co.uk Redesign

I've recently completed a re-design of my site. It is now almost complete, but ready for public viewing. You can see it at: www.dlpwd.co.uk. It uses a C# backend and validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict. It doesn't overuse tables as was a complaint about the previous design. All data is stored in encrypted xml files and the site utilises caching to improve performance.

The forums took me longest to complete, they also use xml files and caching, and make use of a url re-writer to give users a more friendly url as they browse around.

Everything on the site is 100% hand written. I will soon be implimenting a "proximity menu control" which will integrate into the site map and display pages closely related automatically.

As I said there are a few things still to come, mostly to the forums, but also a section for QuickSilver which is my Web Server application written in C#, it is based on Cassini, but also supports php, FTP, SMTP and POP, (IMAP to come soon). I am currently using v6 Beta as my testing server.

Not bad, the layout feels a bit squashed, i think a bit of space between the pages sections would help.

It would also be nice if the links of the site map did something on mouse over.

What exactly do you mean by the pages sections?
What would look good on the sitemap on mouseover?

A simple underline for the site map as you've done on the news articles.

I just think that the space between the users/news section and the Main news section and the sitemap section of the page could do with being a bit wider. You may also want to think about having a full width site.

The reason I dont have a full width site atm is that in small resolutions the content can become squashed up and not look very good. I will look into it as the design does need a little tweaking. I will impliment the other suggestions later on today. Also something I missed from the description, if you click the title of any of the sidebar panels you can collapse it.
