Database worries

I was hosting a file at my domain and giving the link out on a forum. I got this PM from a nice guy who was able to tell me

My name and my full home address just from knowing what my domain was (http://www.yannic.co.uk)

He claimed it was quite easy to do on the web just by looking up the owner of the domain.

Any standard whois lookup will tell you this info (eg http://resellers.tucows.com/whois/). I believe you can ask that this information is witheld when you register the domain but I can't remember if this applies to .co.uk names. The idea is that as it is a company domain (.co.uk) it should be simple to find your postal contact details, this isn't the case with personal domain names like .name and .me.uk etc. (I don't think...). Hope that is a help, or at least clarifies how it works. If you are worried about it, contact your domain name registrar and see what they suggest.

Indeed .co.uk domains give you the chance to opt out of a full listing of all your details but they always show the name it was registered in, ie your name or company name.

If you're worried about it contact UK2 in your case and ask them to not display all your details. They may change it for you.
I've just looked at your WHOIS record for your domain and found that its been suspended anyway. You may want to sort it out!!
