Asp.net 2.0
I have recently been getting to grips with WebParts, GridViews etc etc with ASP.NET 2.0 and wondered whether you had any plans to host a Beta2 service for this. If not, are there plans to introduce this immediately after official release?

I've been playing around with it too, and it ROCKS!
I've been testing it for hosting purposes at it seems very good. So much so that I have plans to role it out onto one of the servers I manage (none cat2). The official Cat2 policy is that products in beta will not be installed on any server. I should imagin that it will roled out for the whole of cat2 soon after it is released. After there has been some time to check that it does not effect anything already on the server, and that there are no issues from others using the product. Hope that helps Jas

Jason is correct
![]() We wont install beta software onto production servers, but we want to run .net2 as much as you, so as soon as we can test and ensure its stable after release we will get it installed

SQL Express is just the new version of msde (MsSql Desktop Edition), it's licence if for desktop use only. It's the same engine that is used in MSSQL2005 but very scalled down. There is no (and will be no) licenece to run it in a shared hosting enviroment. It also is not powerful enough to be run on cat2. It's most likly that you'll see SQL Server 2005, but again it wont' be until after it has been released and all issues with it have been found and fixed. There's also a bit of a learning curve for cat2 to go through, to be able to manage a sql server with the CLR in it! Also thinking about it, it may well depend on when Helm support for it is released. But I suspect that that will be done in good time. Hope that helps Jas

I haven't got fully into it yet as none of my current programs i'm working on use sql, and I do have other commitments. I've mainly been playing with the administration tools etc. From what I have seen of the code, the connection methods are quite different, but I think querying is the same, if not improved. I'll probably find time soon to get on with some coding. Final maths exam next week then I should be free for a while.
